Claire initially qualified as a Geologist before becoming a solicitor. Following on from her degree she developed a particular interest in minerals, waste and environmental issues so it may come as no surprise that she is now specialises in environmental, planning and waste law.
Claire started at Aaron & Partners as an assistant and has worked her way up, becoming a partner in 2011.
Claire’s practice includes Environment Agency and Local Authority compliance issues, prosecutions, advice on enforcement notices, planning issues etc. In support of this Claire is a Chartered Wastes Manager and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management.
She regularly advises on environmental crime such as: waste and water prosecutions, breach of consents and permits and statutory nuisance, as well as advising on corporate due diligence, contaminated land liability and access to environmental information. Claire also undertakes planning and compulsory purchase law.
Moreover, she regularly provides advice and assistance to corporate clients and individuals seeking planning permission or objecting to a neighbouring land use, advises on judicial review matters, compulsory purchase and has acted on the Mersey Gateway Compulsory Purchase Scheme.
In general, though, she acts in the defence of both corporate entities and individuals subject to regulatory investigation and prosecution as well as landowners and developers.
Claire is fully conversant in dealing with all regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency, Local Authorities, VOSA, the Police and the Health and Safety Executive. She advises on, and attends, PACE interviews and frequently undertakes advocacy before the Magistrates’ Court, The Traffic Commissioner and the Planning Inspectorate.
When Claire is not working she enjoys skiing, socialising and baking.
