We are seeking a Solicitor to join our Agricultural and Rural Economy offering at Aaron & Partners. The firm’s departments are highly ranked by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners with references to outstanding individuals and stars of the future.
We act a range of clients in this area including private individuals, farming partnerships, landed estates, dioceses, companies, banks, charities and insolvency receivers. Our main offices are Chester and Shrewsbury with new branches in Altrincham and on the Wirral.
We have targeted agriculture and the rural economy as a key growth area. The sector group is led by Real Estate partner, Joe Fletcher-Hunt. To that end, the firm has established a multi-disciplinary team to work with existing clients and pursue other opportunities. We want you to support this team and grow and develop with it.
You will ideally have 2-5 years PQE but we would like to hear from all interested candidates.
You will be working in the Real Estate team (led by Emma McGlinchey – Chester Office) with support from the Wills, Trusts & Tax team (led by Clive Pointon – Chester Office) and our planning lawyers (leading planning lawyer: Mark Turner – Shrewsbury Office). There is a varied caseload of buying and selling farms and estates, agricultural tenancies, easements, bank security work, and advising landowners on diversification / development projects. Experience of acting for landowners on renewable energy schemes or an interest in developing knowledge of this area would be an advantage.
There is also the opportunity to support the Wills, Trusts & Tax team with estate and tax planning, particularly in respect of advice on agricultural property relief, the preparation of wills and trusts and the administration of estates with a farming element.
Other key people include Simon Ellis, James Wallace, Lynda Richards, Brent Williams and
Hannah Fynn.
The position does have an element of business development and networking supporting local events and shows. The firm is keen to strengthen existing client and referrer relationships and make new ones.
The firm will consider a commercial property lawyer for the role but you will need a strong focus on agriculture and rural property.
This is a full-time position with some flexibility as to location / home working as appropriate
in line with the firm’s policies.
