Mock Employment Tribunal with ACAS
5th September, 2017
Shrewsbury Town Football Club
Montgomery Waters Meadow
09:15 am - 13:00 pm
Employment Law Partner Claire Brook will be hosting a recreated Mock Employment Tribunal with ACAS, based on a true case and facts, to give attendees the opportunity to witness the workings of a tribunal.
Whilst the challenge faced by Claimants and Respondents might not be quite as daunting as those faced by celebrities in the jungle, attending a tribunal hearing can still be a scary prospect.
“I don’t know what to expect – how do tribunals work?” “What if they ask me a question I can’t answer?” “What sort of evidence do I need?”
“What if the Judge doesn’t like the way we have done things?” “How many witnesses will we need to bring?”
These are just some of the many questions people ask when facing the prospect of appearing at an Employment Tribunal.
This event promises to be an informative, enjoyable, myth-busting and interactive session for all delegates. It will give you the opportunity in a safe environment to see how a Tribunal works, to watch a mock tribunal take place and to see how decisions are made.
Aaron & Partners Solicitors will lead you through the process via a role play scenario. You will see the witnesses under examination as the evidence unfolds, and ultimately the judge will deliver their verdict. You will also get the chance to say what you think the outcome should be.
Aaron & Partners will field a team of expert employment lawyers who bring much experience of dealing with Employment Tribunal claims, and attendees will be able to put questions to the solicitors involved during the course of the event.
Acas will explain the alternatives available to attending tribunal provided via its conciliation service, and the new Early Conciliation procedures which are now mandatory.
Appearing at Tribunal can feel like a daunting proposition even if you do have confidence in your case.
The estimated cost to employers of defending a claim at Employment Tribunal is around £9,000. Losing at Tribunal may cost rather more.
Anyone with staff management responsibilities, particularly those involved in disciplinary matters, including HR specialists, line managers, owner managers, TU officials and lay representatives and those involved in representing staff at formal hearings.
