Law Firm’s Major Fundraiser Triumphs Again
1st March, 2013
Helen Watson, Head of Employment and Partner at Aaron & Partners LLP, has been shortlisted as a finalist for Charity Fundraiser of the Year 2013 at the prestigious Network She International Women’s Day Award’s ceremony.
The nomination comes after Helen raised over £4,200 for charity last year by cycling 350km across India in just five days. Enthusiastic and dedicated fundraiser Helen had to cover the distance over rugged terrain in Rajasthan, India, to raise money for her chosen charities Claire House Children’s Hospice and Women v Cancer, which she was inspired to do after recently losing a dear friend to cancer.
Helen had to train hard to get herself fit enough to cope with the gruelling conditions, which she did alongside her busy job as a partner and department head as well as being a single mum. This isn’t the only fundraising Helen has done for Claire House – she has also run two London marathons and will be cycling from London to Paris in July this year.
Helen says of her achievement, “Claire House Children’s Hospice is a charity close to my heart and I’m always happy to help raise awareness for their amazing work and of course the much needed funds.
“Being shortlisted is a wonderful recognition of not only the work I have done to raise awareness of these very worthwhile charities, but also to the charities themselves. Without fundraising events like the cycle across India, these charities would cease to exist. It is with the support and encouragement of my colleagues at Aaron & Partners that make it possible for me to do this charitable work – without their support I would not be able to make the commitments to undertake the challenges I do.”
The winner’s of the Network She International Women’s Day Awards 2013 will be announced at a glittering gala black tie event on Friday 8th March at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.
Helen is already gearing up for her next adventure, the Women v Cancer Cycle Challenge, Cuba in May 2014. Her donations page is now live at http://www.justgiving.com/Watson-Helen
