Biography

As a Partner in his family’s farming business, Ben appreciates the issues that rural businesses face which enables him to use his practical experience to provide bespoke advice to farmers and landowners.

Ben deals with a variety of agricultural matters, including the sale and purchase of agricultural land and farms, secured lending, prescriptive rights of way, easements and deeds of covenant.  He also advises on Basic Payment Scheme entitlements, licence arrangements, farm business tenancy agreements and agricultural holdings act tenancies.

The involvement Ben has in his family’s farming business enables Ben to bring his own practical perspective when advising clients in connection with strategic asset ownership structures to mitigate future capital gains tax and/or inheritance tax; the merits of putting in place a partnership agreement; and the preparation of a tax efficient will to ensure the safe passage of assets from one generation to the next.

Ben proactively identifies relevant issues and risks that clients will face to enable timely informed decisions to be made.
