About the role

We are seeking a property litigation solicitor with between 2 and 5 years plus PQE for an Associate position to join our Dispute Resolution team in Chester.  You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of property litigation matters, including residential and commercial disputes. You will be used to providing outcomes focussed advice and outstanding client service and should have experience in most, if not all, of the following areas:

Dilapidation claims/boundary disputes/easements and covenants/ L&T Act notices and associated possession claims/break notices/property related professional negligence claims/injunctions against trespassers/land based agricultural disputes including AHA tenancies and partnership disputes.

You will be capable of working with minimal supervision on many matters and as part of a partner lead team on larger matters. You will be able to delegate where appropriate to a trainee solicitor and supervise their work.

You will be a confident person with excellent communication skills and good academics who is at ease when dealing with clients; ensuring that each client receives an excellent level of service.

You will have the ability to manage your workload; managing a number of cases at any one time. You will also have an excellent eye for detail and the desire to get things right first time. 

You will have a willingness and aptitude in getting involved in the team/firm’s marketing and business development activities e.g. attending social and networking events (usually with colleagues). Developing good internal relationships with the Real Estate team will be vital and developing external relationships with local property professionals is also important as part of the development of the property litigation practice. This is a growing area of work for us and offers significant career progression opportunities by developing the workload but against a backdrop of an existing case load to work on from day one.

Our highly regarded DR team has an enviable reputation and is highly ranked in the independent legal guide The Legal 500.  The team specialises in all areas of Dispute Resolution and Insolvency law and has a strong client base.

The team has been recognised as a tier 1 firm in the “Elsewhere in the North West” category of the Legal 500 and is proud of its reputation for providing solutions to its client’s problems. We have experienced significant growth over the last few years and are now looking to strengthen the team at Associate level to support the work levels in the team.

 

Key People

Head of department, Nick Clarke, is an expert in the field and deals with a variety of commercial disputes including shareholder disputes, partnership disputes and disputes in the logistics sector. 

The supervising Dispute Resolution Partner will be John Devoy who has extensive experience of property related litigious matters.
