Biography
Nick is the Senior Partner and Head of our Dispute Resolution team at the firm.
Background and Expertise
Nick completed his studies in jurisprudence (law) at Wadham College, Oxford. Being local to the Chester area, Nick was keen to return home following his studies and joined the firm as a Trainee Solicitor in 1999.
In the years that followed, Nick continued to progress at the firm, and eventually took up the roles of Head of Dispute Resolution in 2014, and Senior Partner in 2019.
Nick handles matters involving commercial agreements, handles high-stakes commercial disputes, and addresses complex matters related to shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, sale and supply of goods and services disputes, corporate transactions, and professional negligence claims.
As Senior Partner, Nick has an active involvement in the running of the firm and sits on our Executive Board.
Specialisms and Personal Achievements
Nick’s expertise extends to handling professional negligence claims against various professionals, including accountants, solicitors, architects, and financial advisers. Nick also navigates disputes involving liens and managing situations where the customers of warehouse keepers face insolvency.
As an accredited Mediator, Nick is committed to using alternative methods of resolution during dispute matters. Outside of work, he has served as the Company Secretary at Chester Zoo for the last 9 years.
Nick's approach to dispute resolution is characterised by a client-centric philosophy. He prioritises understanding his clients' objectives and devises strategies that align with their goals.
Notable achievements include his recognition for his work in dispute resolution law by Legal 500. Nick was named by the 2024 rankings as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’.
