Sale of Invertek Drives Limited to Sumitomo Heavy Industries Limited The acquisition of Invertek Drives Ltd by Sumitomo Heavy Industries Limited (SHI) was a significant milestone in the 21-year history of Invertek. To continue our growth in the globally competitive variable frequency drives market we knew we would need significant external investment, and this would be achieved through the sale. However, we wanted to ensure the global recognition of Invertek’s brand and reputation for innovation and manufacturing excellence was not only maintained but strengthened by any new owner. SHI recognised the value of Invertek, our people and products. With an opportunity to sell our group of companies based on both sides of the “Pond” and with the buyer being based in the United States, we needed assistance to complete the UK side of the sale. The initial steps were complicated as there was a corporate reorganisation to deal with before the sale could go ahead.
