The 2013 winners of the North Wales Open Art Exhibition, sponsored by Chester-based Aaron & Partners, have been announced.
The annual summer exhibition, which has taken place at the theatre for more than 30 years, attracted entries from throughout North Wales and beyond, from both professional and amateur artists featuring a variety of subjects and medium.
The £1,000 first prize winner was artist Kim Dewsbury with her still life in oil ‘The Lot of the Farmer’. Second prize of £500 went to David Glyndwr Jones with his colour photograph entitled ‘Natasha – Foetal’ and third prize of £250 was awarded to Lesley Barker with her monoprint with text ‘Causeway, Lindisfarne’. Kevin Jones received a Highly Commended accolade for his oil painting ‘Year of Conflict’.
For the last six years, Aaron & Partners has sponsored the North Wales Open Art Exhibition, which is open for viewing until the 30 August at Clwyd Theatr Cymru.
The exhibition is spread across three galleries and features more than 150 pieces of work.
Judging was carried out by Simon Carter, a Consultant and former Partner at Aaron & Partners, and Susie Allen, a solicitor in the Aaron & Partners’ Employment team, who is currently studying for a Masters in Contemporary Art at the University of Manchester. The prizes were presented by Simon Carter and Chief Executive Officer of Aaron & Partners, Andy Duxbury.
Andy said: “The exhibition is an annual highlight for many artists in the region and there is a range of vibrant art on display in three galleries at Clwyd Theatr Cymru.
“The North Wales Open is an important community event which we are delighted to support.”
The exhibition is open until 30 August with many pieces of artwork available for sale. After this date a selection of the art will be displayed at the offices of Aaron & Partners until the end of the year.
