The opportunity

Our Wills, Trusts & Tax team, led by James Wallace, advises high-net-worth individuals and families on protecting their wealth, planning for the future and managing complex personal affairs.

We are looking for a secretary to join the team in our Chester office. This is an opportunity to become part of a team that is highly regarded on a national level, supporting fee earners and Partners on a broad range of wills, trusts and estate planning matters within a professional and collaborative environment.

You will gain valuable exposure to high-quality private client work while developing your technical knowledge and practical experience across a wide range of matters alongside senior colleagues that are recognised in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.

This role will suit someone who is organised, proactive and career in private client law and takes pride in delivering exceptional client service

What you will be doing

As a secretary within the team, you will support a broad range of wills, trusts and estate planning matters, including:

  • Provide a high standard of secretarial support to Partners, Solicitors and Consultants.
  • Prepare, format, amend and produce legal documents, correspondence and reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Undertake audio and copy typing as required.
  • Proofread and quality-check documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with the preparation of client files and legal paperwork relating to wills, trusts, probate and tax matters.
  • Manage fee earner diaries, scheduling appointments, meetings and client consultations.
  • Handle incoming telephone calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Open, close and archive client files as required.

About you

We are looking for someone who is organised, detail-focused and enthusiastic about developing a career in private client law.

You will:

  • Previous experience in a Legal Secretary or administrative support role.
  • Excellent organisational and diary management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Professional and client-focused approach.
