The Opportunity 

Our Accounts team plays a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the firm, ensuring accuracy, compliance and consistency across all financial processes. 

You will join the firm as an Accounts Assistant on a full-time basis in Chester. This is an opportunity to take on a varied and hands-on role, supporting day-to-day cashiering and accounts activities within a professional and collaborative environment. 

You will work closely with colleagues across the finance team, contributing to the delivery of an efficient and reliable service, while also providing cover and support where needed. 

This role will suit someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys working in a structured environment, and is confident managing their responsibilities independently while remaining part of a wider team. 

What you will be doing

You will support a range of legal cashiering and accounts activities, including: 

  • Processing purchase ledger invoices, including input, coding, scanning, and reconciliation
  • Preparing weekly payment runs and liaising with suppliers where required
  • Managing expense processing and company credit card transactions
  • Reconcile purchase ledger accounts on a regular basis.
  • Investigate and resolve unmatched invoices, credits, and payments
  • Assist with month-end purchase ledger reconciliations
  • Assisting with a range of ad hoc Accounts duties to support the wider team

About you

You'll bring a structured, detail-focused approach to your work, with the confidence to take ownership of tasks while remaining collaborative. 

  • Experience or exposure to purchase ledger within a professional environment
  • Strong numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Professional, courteous, and confident in dealing with both internal and external contacts
  • Excellent communication skills and a clear, organised approach to tasks
  • Strong IT capability, including confident use of Excel
