John is a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation team. Most of his work involves professional negligence claims, primarily (but not exclusively) against other professional service providers, such as solicitors, architects and accountants. He has extensive experience of contractual and tortious claims and regularly advises clients involved in partnership, director and shareholder disputes.
A great believer in legal risk management, John helps clients to minimise their risk of legal disputes and lectures on the topic. He has also lectured on director’s duties and liabilities and helps directors understand the risks they face in their role as directors.
John is a director and trustee of The Hammond School, a privately run co-educational school specialising in dance, music and drama.
I am extremely grateful to Mr Devoy for his very professional but very personally reassuring advice in these difficult times. John’s advice was first-rate throughout and both issues we faced have now been resolved. I would like to thank John most wholeheartedly for his professional and personal support during this worrying business, it has helped to take a whole weight off my shoulders.

I have known John in a professional capacity for a number of years – having first become acquainted with his firm during my time in Bangor. Having moved to London, where there are a dearth of Law Firms to choose from, I remained in contact with John as my trusted “go to” adviser because of his strongly pragmatic approach and detailed knowledge of things like commercial law and IP etc. John combines a strong and certain approach with a clearly balanced appreciation of all the fine detail and, in this, he generates ‘high quality’ and ‘good value’ advice which compares favourably with any legal competitor. A really strong example of professionalism.

That’s incredible. Thanks very much John. Without trying to sound too condescending you’ve done a fantastic job there. Very much appreciated.

I know how powerfully & forcibly you would argue our case.
