What you will be doing
You will advise on a wide range of complex family matters, including:
- Divorce and separation
- Financial settlements, often involving high-value and complex assets
- Children matters, including relocation cases
- Cohabitation disputes
- Agricultural family matters
In addition, you will:
- Manage your own portfolio of high-value clients and matters
- Supervise, mentor and support junior members of the team
- Play a key role in maintaining and developing client and referrer relationships
- Contribute to business development and the continued growth of our Shrewsbury office

About you
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded family lawyer with strong technical expertise and leadership capability.
You will:
- Have extensive experience in family law
- Demonstrate a strong track record advising high-net-worth clients
- Be confident handling complex matters across financial settlements, children issues and related work
- Have experience supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
- Be commercially aware, with a proactive approach to business development
- Be confident building and maintaining long-term client and referrer relationships
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, empathy and sound judgement
This role would suit someone already operating at Partner level, or a Legal Director/Senior Associate ready to take the next step.

Led by Head of Family Law Simon Magner Mawdsley, who clients describe as an "excellent listener", "open and engaging", "reassuring" and "insightful", the family law team is recognised in both The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners,
The team advises on a wide range of matters, with particular strength in financial disputes and issues concerning children.
As part of a close-knit, high-performing team, you can expect to work collaboratively and take pride in delivering clear, practical advice on sensitive and often complex matters.
